Hi everyone and welcome to my blog!

As you might have guessed, my name is Lisa and I’m passionate about travelling!  I aim to provide practical, informative content I hope you’ll find useful when planning a trip of your own, or perhaps provide some inspiration to visit a destination you never considered before!

A little more about me:

  • I’m from Northern Ireland
  • I’m in my 30s
  • I’m a long-term vegetarian (18+ years!)
  • I consider myself an introvert
  • I love learning (I think that’s where the love of travelling comes in!)

Each of these qualities (to varying degrees) feeds into and shapes my chosen travel experiences.  For example, my love of learning drives my desire to visit as many places as possible and to explore a city through its historical buildings and surroundings.  My age and introverted nature mean I tend to choose mid-range hotels or accommodation with private bathrooms, rather than hostels and dorm rooms.  My vegetarian diet dictates what local delicacies I try when I’m overseas.  My European home base means I’m fortunate enough to have lots of accessible destinations relatively close by.  That means I often travel to cities within Europe (although I try to get a little further afield sometimes too!).

Why am I telling you this?  Well, all of these things inform my perspective of each travel experience I have.  Through years of travel and reading about travel online, I noticed a gap in the market.  There are a myriad of holiday providers dedicated to young 20-somethings ready to party somewhere new and exotic.  Some adventurous bloggers love going off-the-beaten-track to far-flung destinations.  And there’s the 50+ market who are approaching retirement and ready to see the world in comfort and style.

But, well what if you don’t fit into any of those boxes?  I don’t.  And if you’re reading this, maybe you don’t either.  That’s why I started Lisa Travels To.

My content, therefore, focuses on 30-40 something, female, introvert travel.  I aim to inform and inspire other like-minded women to travel on their own terms.

That could look very different depending on who you are and what your priorities are. It might mean joining a group tour to travel through a new country.  It might mean planning your next European city break with your significant other.  Or it might mean travelling solo through Europe for the summer.  Either way, I hope I can help you get started on your next travel adventure!

You’ll notice I focus on a few key things when writing, namely:

  • European destinations, particularly European city breaks that are easily accessible (although I’ll include more non-European destinations as and when I get to them!)
  • Practical and informative content to help like-minded readers confidently plan their next trip
  • Historical and cultural activities – learning something about your destination
  • Mid-range accommodation – offering privacy, great location and value for money (no dorm rooms or luxury hotels here)
  • Creating content based on my own personal experiences – I only write about places I have actually been to!

These are my guiding principles for content on this blog.  The last point, in particular, is really important to me.  This isn’t a website full of content on destinations the authors have never been to.  It’s content based on real, authentic experiences.

Whilst I’ve had the opportunity to visit many places, I don’t claim to be an absolute expert – all content on this blog is my own and based on my personal experience in each place.  You might have different ideas on the best things to see and do in a particular place or your perspective might differ slightly from mine.  But that’s the beauty of travel – it shapes us all in different ways.  My goal here is to equip you with some useful and practical guides to get you started on your travel journey.
